The Coca Cola BottleBat is this summers cricket promotion. It is tough for companies to keep ideas fresh and it is even harder to top the promotions of years gone by - the talking Boonie figurines offered by VB with a carton of beer several years ago were immensely popular.

The Coca Cola BottleBat would have to be the most innovative promotion since then. It is available free with the purchase of two 2 litre bottles of Coca Cola at participating stores; typically bottle shops, service stations and taverns. The full list of stores with stock in WA, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, ACT, SA and NT is available at http://www.cokeunleashed.com.au/bblocations/index.jsp. Unfortunately it looks like Queensland is not part of the offer.

The BottleBat is an almost one-foot long plastic bat handle which screws on to the top of the 2 litre Coke bottle to form an unorthodox cricket bat - perfect for an impromptu game of cricket. Included is a soft and light cricket ball with both the Coca Cola and Cricket Australia branding. Good luck getting it to swing, but I reckon on the right surface like a driveway or brick paving the bowler could have some fun getting it to spin or extract uneven bounce.

You can also watch the advertisement on YouTube featuring Brett Lee, Brad Haddin and Shane Watson. The offer runs between and Boxing Day, 2011 February 28, 2012 or for as long as stocks last.
