I was advocating for a phpBB blog for a few years, there was something that appealed to me about an official blog that the phpBB team members could use to share information with the community. So I was elated when the blog was given the green light mid way through last year.
It has been fascinating to watch the progression of the phpBB blog. So far there have 24 posts submitted, which means a new blog post every week and a bit. The community seems to have taken to the idea also, which was the whole point of the exercise! Kellanved's "
Attachment Headaches with the Internet Explorer" has generated the most interest with 37 comments, followed by Highway of Life's "
SEO Problems and Solutions to improve optimisation within phpBB3" with 34 comments and my "
Guest posting: Do I or don't I?" with 31 replies. There are many more in the "high 20's" which is a testament to the success of the blog so far.
Most importantly, it has been fun for me (and presumably others) to contribute to. The highlight to date for me was when my article "
Choosing your moderators" spawned another post on the same topic; "
How many moderators do you really need?" by drathbun. I feel this is a very good example of how the blog has brought the community closer together (myself from the MOD Team, drathbun from the Moderator Team and the many phpBB.com users who replied in the aforementioned blog posts) by people sharing a similar interest in the discussion topic.
With the occasional exception, I like to write about practical forum information for administrators and webmasters. It is important to post information that the
community wants to know, so if anyone has any suggestions for a future topic to write about please feel free to let me know by sending me a
PM at phpBB.com or
here at CricketMX.com.
Additionally, I'm always happy to include quotes in my blog posts. So if you have an experience you would like to share, it is no problem to include it (with credit, of course!).
