I'd go with a responsive design. They are becoming very popular and I think it's a good route to take these days, given the large number of mobile devices (phones, tablets) that people use to access websites. I'm a fan of it, when I redesign the home page for CMX I think I'll use a responsive design. There's so many frameworks which take a lot of the hard work out of this too, Bootstrap comes to mind.
